In Salzburg, as elsewhere in Austria, the question of brunch is essential, almost vital. In the following article, we’ll take a look at a selection of some of the best locations and restaurants to have breakfast in before heading out to visit the area.

Where to have brunch in Salzburg?

Salzburg is a small city. There are between 150 and 160,000 inhabitants. The brunch scene is therefore not very developed. However, we have managed to find a few establishments that are clearly worth checking out. A selection of 5 quality brunches that will certainly make your mouth water.

1. Die Humboldt

If you’re a fan of fresh, local and organic products, we highly recommend you to go to Die Humboldt. This is, in our opinion, one of the best brunches in Salzburg.

The goal of this establishment is to make healthy food accessible to the entire population.

On the menu? Bagels, vegetarian and meat options, sweet and savory bowls, scrambled eggs or eggs Benedict… In short, there’s plenty to choose from.

2. Cafe Fingerlos

Cafe Fingerlos is a traditional Austrian café. You’ll find classic brunch dishes as well as simpler ones, like Bircher Muesli.

Located on Franz-Josef-Straße, the restaurant is often crowded on weekends.

You are therefore advised to make a reservation, especially if you are in a group, to ensure that you get a good table.

3. M32

M32 is one of the most unusual brunches in Salzburg. It offers a breathtaking view of the rooftops of Mozart’s city and makes every morning unforgettable. It is a rather trendy, hip establishment.

You will find many breakfasts here, like the “Vegan Vital Breakfast” or the “Mountain Breakfast”. You can even create your own breakfast by selecting the dishes, fruits and vegetables you want to eat. The establishment is located at Mönchsberg 32.

4. Café Bazar

Café Bazar is one of those other Salzburg brunches that offers a great view of various city landmarks, such as the Makartsteg (Salzburg’s Love Lock Bridge) and the Old Town.

On-site breakfast is served between 7:30 and late afternoon. In other words, you can enjoy brunch at any time of the day. We really appreciate the very fragrant and crafted coffees and their fabulous homemade jams.

Again, remember to make a reservation. This is the perfect place if you’re staying in one of the few hotels in Salzburg, right in the city center.

5. Pur:isst

At pur:isst you will find, again, healthy, natural and organic food. This restaurant pays special attention to the regionality of its products.

You will eat well, very well even, and you will be able to enjoy a real moment of relaxation in one of these establishments little known by the tourists but very appreciated by the locals. The establishment is located at Alpenstraße 115.
