In short, this is an unusual activity. Indeed, Dubai is not necessarily known as THE most winter sports oriented city in the world.
THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES OF SKIING IN DUBAI
All in all, there are 5 ski slopes available for the most athletic among you. Naturally, the slopes are of different difficulties. The first one is for beginners. The last one, the steepest, is classified as black. It measures about 400 meters, with a slope of 15%!
In addition to the downhill slopes, Ski Dubai offers several other activities, such as a freestyle zone. A zone generally frequented by snowboarders. For children, a large 3,000 square meter park is also available. Finally, a large zip line of 150 meters long, at 16 meters high, crosses the building.
In this respect, it is essential to remember that, no matter which formula you select, the equipment is provided! Ski, snowboard, poles, wetsuits and helmets are included in the package. The snow is logically artificial!
OPENING HOURS OF THE SKI RESORT DUBAI
The ski resort in Dubai is open all year round. Depending on the day, the opening hours vary:
- Friday – Saturday: the Dubai ski resort is open from 9am to midnight;
- Sunday – Wednesday: It is possible to ski in Dubai from 10am to 10pm;
- Thursday: the resort is open from 10am to midnight.
Please note that not everyone can enter. Indeed, children under 3 years old are not allowed to ski. For children from 3 to 12 years old, they must be accompanied by an adult. Finally, a minimum level is required to be able to take the skis. Indeed, if you have never set foot on a ski or snowboard, you will have very little chance of being accepted.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GET ON THE SLOPES?
There are “only” two options to fully enjoy skiing in Dubai:
- The “Small budget” formula: these are 2-hour sessions, for a total of 220 AED (54 euros);
- The “Day” formula: it is an unlimited access to the slopes, for the day, for one person. It costs 320 AED (79 euros).
It is important to note that by booking online, you get a discount of 10AED (the local currency in Dubai), per person. This is not a huge discount but it does lower the final price of access to the slopes.
